Duck And Dodge Flu Season With These Easy Tips

With fall almost upon us, that means flu season is almost here. It’s one of the most common illnesses that plague society each fall, but catching it can be detrimental to our health (at least for a little while.

If you’re one of the many people who get sick because of the flu, here are some new ways to avoid getting sick this fall.

PRACTICE A ROUTINE TO STOP GERMS

The best way to stick to a plan is to form a routine. While it’s easy to remember to cover your sneezes with your elbow, for some it’s a little trickier.

Getting into a healthy routine can add structure to your life and prevent you from getting sick. Each day, take the time to shower properly and clean your body. When you arrive at work, clean your desk with warm soap and water or a disinfectant wipe to prevent the spread of germs. Wash your bed sheets once a week. It seems menial, but these are some of the best regular tasks to perform if you want to prevent common illnesses like the flu.

STOP TOUCHING YOUR FACE

Your parents’ old adage to stop touching your face will eventually come back to haunt you. Not only does touching your face lead to more skin irritations and breakouts, but it’s also the best way to transmit germs from surfaces into your body. Your eyes, your nose, your mouth — these are all germ highways that can result in the flu if you’re not careful. This is particularly important during the fall allergy season when itchy noses and eyes make you touch your face more often.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR

If you think you’re coming down with the flu or another common illness, you must talk to your doctor for treatment and preventative care. Go early and get treated quickly; people that are diagnosed with the flu are the most contagious during the first three or four days when they’re displaying symptoms. Visit an urgent health care clinic to help maintain your family health.

Between seasonal illnesses, allergies, and the flu, it can seem impossible to stay healthy during the transition to fall. When you want the best medical care, consider visiting Convenient Urgent care in Houston, TX for all your flu needs.
